Advanced RAC & Management via EM Grid Control
Anil Khilani and Erik Peterson, Oracle

Know RAC well? This class will take a single shared cluster already running RAC and turn it into a full scale database grid supporting different workloads each with their own priority and resource needs. Session will focus on Database Services and their ability to provide isolation and visibility, learn about alternatives in load balancing including the new Runtime Connection Load Balancing, and how to manage, monitor and control each of these in Enterprise Manager. Coverage will also include using Enterprise Manager for general database adminstration, Performance Monitoring, and ADDM.

Monday, April 24
9:15 am - 11:30 am
Location: Bayou E

RAC and ASM Best Practices - Parts I and II
Kirk McGowan, Oracle

Understanding "Best Practices" are a critical success factor in any new technology deployment. Best Practices are by definition based on experience. And experience comes primarily from real world deployments, and secondarily from controlled lab test environments. In other words, we need to learn from those who have done it before, in order to maximize our opportunity for success in doing it ourselves. The process is iterative and in some respects never ending.

11:45 am - 12:45 pm
Location: Canal D

RAC SIG Birds-of-a-Feather Lunch
Rich Niemic, TUSC and Murali Vallath, Summersky Enterprises

Calling all current and future RAC implementers! This is a great event to meet others running RAC/Grid. This event is sponsored by the Oracle RAC Special Interest Group as a non-formal way to meet your peers. Even if you are only considering running RAC or Grid, this is a great way to meet others that have already implemented it. This meeting will start with a very brief overview of the RAC SIG and what you can find at www.oracleracsig.org. We'll then break into groups for mini-discussions. We'll start with Operating System and/or hardware, then we'll break into groups by area (Data Warehousing, OLTP, Provisioning, Extreme HA, Performance) and last, we'll either do volume of data and/or number of nodes.

Tuesday, April 25
12:15 pm - 1:15 pm
Location: Canal C

RAC Customer Panel
Murali Vallath, Summersky Enterprise and Rich Niemic, TUSC

Here's a great panel of your fellow Oracle customers here to share their experiences with RAC/Grid. We'll start with a brief introduction by each panel member on the systems that they run and some of the experiences that they've had with RAC and Grid. We'll then open up the discussion to the audience so that you can ask them your questions so that you can learn from some the customers that have “been there done that.” Don't miss this rare opportunity to see some of the industry leaders share their lessons for success.

Wednesday, April 26
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: Canal B

RAC Expert Panel
Murali Vallath, Summersky Enterprise and Rich Niemic, TUSC

Do you want to learn from the best? Look no further! We have a panel of RAC Grid Experts from the well known Oracle RAC Pack complimented nicely with some of the best experts in the industry. Bring your toughest questions and this group is sure to deliver the answers.
We'll also hear what best practices each of them employs when they implement high availability solutions.
