With more than 7,500 attendees from across the globe, insights from numerous Oracle executives, hundreds of educational sessions, top IT Solution Providers and various networking opportunities, COLLABORATE 08 was truly a success. Keynotes by Oracle Executives

COLLABORATE 08 had numerous presentations by various Oracle executives, including a keynote by Oracle President, Charles E. Phillips, during the COLLABORATE 08 Opening General Session. View the keynote here .

COLLABORATE 08 – IOUG Forum Opening General Session

The IOUG Forum Opening General Session featured Andy Mendelsohn, Senior Vice President, Oracle Database Server Technologies, Oracle Corporation, and Dylan Tweney, Senior Editor of Wired News.

Mendelsohn provided an update on major database trends and challenges, insights on Oracle Database 11g, 10g and 9i, and announced the launch of the new IOUG Member Enchancements Voting Portal which gives IOUG Members the opportunity to influence future product plans.

Following Mendelson, Tweney provided an overview of general trends in IT, including the evolution of Web sites like YouTube and Flickr, the latest gadgets and tech tools.

Educational Sessions

The IOUG Forum featured a record-breaking number of more than 425 educational sessions across six tracks: Architecture, Business Intelligence/Warehousing, Database, Development, and Professional Development. And, new this year, the IOUG introduced a special track on Hyperion, a "conference within a conference" on Stellent that featured more than 30 sessions and a hands-on lab, and a special Fusion Infusion track.

And, numerous COLLABORATE attendees dived deep into various Oracle subjects, ranging from BI to database to RAC, during full- and half-day University Seminars.

Exhibitor Showcase

More than 250 top IT Solution Providers exhibited at this year's COLLABORATE conference. Attendees had the chance to have their most pressing business questions answered, as well as discover various products and services that could be used to improve their everyday job functions.

Networking Events

IOUG Forum attendees mingled with others throughout the week during various networking events:

  • Unconference Sessions – PowerPoint Free Zone provided attendees the chance to talk with their peers about topics that impacted them as Oracle users;
  • The SIG Welcome Reception and SIG meetings allowed attendees to network with others in their areas of interest;
  • The Welcome Reception and Happy Hour in the Exhibitor Showcase gave attendees the chance to interact with top IT Solution Providers
  • And the IOUG's Tuning Oracle Coffeehouse and the Explore Colorado Party let attendees mingle in relaxed environments.

Only IOUG Forum attendees can access the IOUG Online Proceedings to view the papers and presentations of various IOUG Forum sessions. Attendees should have received an e-mail, providing a login and password for accessing the Proceedings. If you did not, please e-mail IOUG@ioug.org.

Please note: the papers and presentations from the University Seminars are only provided to University Seminar attendees in hardcopy at the forum.
