IOUG COLLABORATE 09: Oracle Database and Technology Education - By Users, For Users

COLLABORATE 09 – IOUG Forum
was "Virtually" a Success!

Despite the current economic conditions, COLLABORATE 09 still attracted more than 4,500 Oracle customers from across the globe – and many others virtually.

For the first time, the IOUG presented Plug-in to COLLABORATE 09 – IOUG Forum, where more than 35 educational sessions were offered virtually during the conference. The IOUG created this virtual option to alleviate the restrictions in training and travel dollars. For those who couldn’t obtain the dollars to attend this year’s event, it was a success – more than 50 licenses were sold!

Plug-in was not the only new offering this year at the IOUG Forum. Focused Orientations were new this year and allowed attendees to get an introduction to Oracle’s newest products, including BEA/Portal and Content Management/Stellent. Ask the Experts sessions were also new and provided attendees the chance to have their most pressing questions answered by Oracle experts about a variety of topics, including backups, enterprise security and more.

There were also special focus areas this year on BEA/Portal, Content Management/Stellent and Essbase, so COLLABORATE attendees could enhance their knowledge on Oracle’s latest acquisitions. More than 350 other sessions took place, as well, in seven tracks: Architecture and Infrastructure, Business Intelligence/Warehousing, Database, Development, Middleware, Professional Development and Governance and Corporate Compliance (GCC).

A number of high interest activities were also brought back, including keynote sessions from Oracle executives. Among top executives, Oracle President Charles Phillips discussed how Oracle's vision of complete, open and integrated systems can enable operational excellence and growth for businesses.

The IOUG’s "Tuning" Open Mic Night was held once again by popular demand. It provided an intimate venue for attendees to build relationships with peers, not to mention, karaoke!

Lastly, the event wouldn’t be complete without our top IT Solution Providers in the Exhibitor Showcase. More than 225 vendors were present to showcase their latest products and services, and ultimately, help attendees increase efficiencies in their daily job roles.

If you missed COLLABORATE, stay tuned, as replays of virtual sessions, as well as more than 350 session podcasts, will be available soon for attendees and members. Check out what our attendees had to say about COLLABORATE on our Twitterfeed.

In the meantime, conference attendees can view the COLLABORATE proceedings here. Just use the password e-mailed to you in the Daily Agenda Update e-mail. Proceedings do not include University Seminars and will be available to IOUG members shortly.

See you next year!
