The IOUG annual conference, IOUG Live! 2004, was a five day event filled with vital education and networking for the Oracle user community. Thanks to the IOUG Live! 2004 Conference Committee for organizing such a successful event!
The conference began and ended with University Seminars held to offer attendees in-depth education on a particular topic. On the three days between, attendees dispersed to more than 200 different educational sessions including the ½ hour Quick Tip Sessions, 1-hour Technical Sessions, and delved more deeply in the 2-hour Expert Technical Sessions. The IOUG Live! 2004 sessions were presented by speakers from more than 120 organizations and we thank them for joining us and educating the Oracle users in attendance. Attendees also had the opportunity to go to the Oracle Exam Cram to prepare for the Oracle Certified Professional exam. A mix of education and networking was offered at Special Interest Group meetings, Roundtable Table Sessions, Birds-of-a-Feather Lunches and at the IOUGeopardy sessions.
The Opening General Session provided an overview of IOUG's plans and progress along with the announcement of the Chris Wooldridge and SELECT Editor's Choice Award recipients. The Keynote Address followed by Jim Milton, HP's Managing Director, Americas and Senior Vice President, Enterprise Systems Group.With the Monday afternoon General Session, came the announcement of the Oracle Contribution Award recipient and the Oracle Keynote Address presented by Ken Jacobs, Vice President Product Strategy, Server Technology Division, Oracle Corporation where he  presented
“The Promise of Grid Computing and the Reality of Oracle 10g.” Tuesday's Keynote Address was presented by Jeremy Burton, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, VERITAS Software. And, the conference closed with the LEGATO Keynote Address with a customer presentation by Robert Dominique, Senior UNIX System Administrator and Storage Manager of the Canadian Space Agency.
The IOUG Live! 2004 Exhibit Hall was packed with excitement and Oracle solution providers. In addition to visiting with vendors in the Exhibit Hall, attendees also had the opportunity to attend the Partner Educational Forums for vendor presentations providing more in-depth information on product features and benefits from certain Oracle solution providers.
