IOUG Live! 2005
The IOUG annual technical symposium IOUG Live! 2005, was a four-day event filled with vital education and networking for the Oracle user community. Thank you to the IOUG Live! 2005 Symposium Committee for organizing such a successful event!
The symposium began on Sunday with University Seminars held to offer attendees in-depth education from Oracle experts. A mix of education and networking was offered at the Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception, Grassroots Alliance Partner (GAP) Luncheon, Roundtable Discussions, Birds-of-a-Feather Lunches, Special Interest Group (SIG) Meetings and at the IOUG Live! 2005 Social Night.
The Opening General Session provided an overview of the IOUG's plans and progress, along with the presentation of the Chris Wooldridge Award to Ian Abramson and the 2004 SELECT Editor’s Choice Award to Kirtikumar Deshpande. Following the award presentations, Richard Neimiec, chief executive officer, TUSC, presented the Keynote Address, which taught attendees how to become an "Uncommon Leader."
The Oracle Recognition Award recipient was announced in Monday's afternoon General Session and presented to James Hobbs for outstanding dedication and service to the IOUG on behalf of Oracle. The Oracle Keynote Address was presented by Oracle's senior vice president and chief information officer of Global Information Technology, David Thompson. Monday evening, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a special interactive session, Ask Tom Kyte - Live!, with Oracle's Tom Kyte.
During Tuesday's lunch, the interactive Women in Technology Panel Session featured middle and senior-level women from several companies who have achieved prominence in the technology field.
