Migrating Enterprise Applications to the Cloud (#IOUGeniusCloud)
    Topic: Cloud Journey
    Owner: Leighton Nelson
    Date: 2017-04-03
    Subtopic: COLLABORATE 17

Today's businesses need to move quickly - a longer time to market could potentially mean lost revenue. To achieve this, applications need faster development lifecycles and applications need to get data faster. This results in stretched IT resources, frustrated staff, complex or insufficient infrastructure and failed projects.

Traditional IT organizations struggle to move applications to the cloud for various reasons. However, enterprise applications including ERP and HR usually lag behind the cloud movement. The cost of storage and bandwith as well as the complexity involved are seen as barriers. But the benefits are clear - lower cost of entry and operating costs, utility billing and near linear scaling. But how do you get there? Fork lift, rebuild, replication?

In this session we will look at how we can use data virtualization techniquest to move enterprise applications like Oracle E-Business Suite and Peoplesoft to Amazon AWS.
